Yasmina Bendriss
I'm Yasmina, a PhD student in the lab of Dr Dayne Beccano-Kelly at the Cardiff University Dementia Research Institute and co-supervised by Dr Mariah Lelos in the BRG. I obtained my MSc in Molecular Neuroscience from the University of Bristol where my research project focused on the role of the brain renin angiotensin system, particularly the molecular processes by which angiotensin (1-7) and the mas receptor may support neuroprotective processes in neuronal cultures. I also hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Nottingham, with my final year research project focusing on the locus coeruleus-norepinephrine system's role in working memory and decision making.
My current work and research interests revolve around Parkinson's, neurocircuitry, biochemical signalling pathways associated with PD and synaptic aberrations. For this purpose I draw on a variety of molecular biology, behavioural and electrophysiological methods, as well as fibre photometry.
